Helen Kelly has worked for the HSE since 1994. She is a lecturer on the QQI Level 5 Palliative Care Course in the Cork College of Commerce for the last 5 years.
She is qualified in 4 disciplines of Nursing:
- Public Health
- Midwifery
- Paediatric Nursing
- General Nursing
She currently works as a Public Health Nurse with the HSE. She has previously worked as a midwife, neonatal unit nurse, paediatric nurse and a general nurse in care of the elderly
She holds the following educational qualifications:
- MSc in Nursing from UCC
- BSc in Nursing from UCC
- Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health from UCC
- Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery from UCC
- HDip in Sick Children’s Nursing fromUCD
She has also obtained a certificate in Business Studies Accounting from CIT.
The focus of her thesis for her MSc in Nursing in UCC focused on “Exploring the postnatal experiences of first time foreign national mothers”.
Helen is passionate about providing holistic care to those who need it, using a person-centred approach to care and by using the most up to date evidenced based research. She has a keen interest in the area of palliative care where her primary focus is on promoting the best quality of life for her clients while adhering to all of the principles of Palliative Care.
