Jerry Ryan has worked for over 12 years as a primary school teacher.  Jerry has worked as a teacher in a special school, a special class for students with autism, an early intervention class for students with autism and as a resource teacher shared between four primary schools.  Jerry is currently seconded to the National Council for Special Education of the Department of Education & Skills, Ireland.  Jerry teaches on the BA in Applied Early Childhood studies; he teaches Special Educational Needs and Regulation and Applied Law.  Jerry was a past student himself of the Cork College of Commerce where he completed his BA Degree in Montessori Education.  Jerry holds a Master’s degree in Special Educational Needs, a Master’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Autism Education.  Jerry also holds a BA Honours degree in Applied Social Studies Disability & a Postgraduate Diploma in Special Educational Needs.  Jerry holds a Higher Diploma in Special and Inclusive Education from Queens University, Belfast.  Recently, Jerry completed a level 8 qualification in Religious Education from DCU & a level 7 qualification in Educational Leadership & Management from LIT.  Jerry has worked for over 3 years also as an Associate with the Special Education Support Services.

Jerry also has a passion for teaching at third level education.  Jerry works in UCC lecturing on the Diploma in Autism Studies and the Postgraduate Diploma in SEN.  Jerry works as a Research Supervisor for Hibernia College supervising Primary and Post Primary teachers as they carry out their master’s research thesis.  Jerry lectures also for St Nicholas Montessori College where he teaches Special Educational Needs.  Jerry has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from UCC.  Jerry has a great interest and passion in Special Needs Education, Early Intervention, early years education, primary education, third level/further education & Montessori Education.
