HIQA Health and social care Regulations and Standards, Quality, Safety and Risk Management for Nurses and Health & Social care workers.

This course is designed for Nurses (working in nursing homes, the disability sector and hospitals), Senior Health & Social Care workers, PIC’s (Person’s in Charge) and Registered Providers of Nursing homes who wish to deliver a continuously high quality and safe service. The course will help you prepare for HIQA inspections and on-going compliance with the standards and regulations.
Registered nurses will receive NMBI (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) post registration Category 1 approval (35 CEU’s).

Course Content:

  • Health & social care regulations & the Health Act 2007.
  • Understanding the role of HIQA and the HIQA inspection process.
  • Standards and best practice in health and social care.
  • What is effective Leadership, Governance and Management, roles & responsibilities of managers.
  • Staff motivation, developing a culture for continuous quality improvements, effective communications.
  • Health & safety and risk management in health and social services, the importance of auditing systems.
  • Assisted Decision Making Act 2015;

Course Delivery

This course is delivered through an online learning approach  and are designed to inspire, motivate, facilitate, and support students in completing their QQI Qualification through a range of Virtual and interactive methods.

Students must have basic IT Skills.
